Waterloo Cottage provides food nutritionally dense and good for us, meat bred to the highest ethical standards, containing no antibiotics and that tastes great.
Angus & Kirsty and all at Waterloo Cottage Farm, work with others like them, encouraging the local community to join in with them on their journey. Their shop still holds their initial principles as its driving force.
Pasture fed Highland cattle and sheep, truly free range pigs are grown on the farm. If not grown on their farm then the meat is sourced from liked minded local farmers using the same animal husbandry methods. The shop sells perfectly matured meat, a growing range of ready meals, great deli products from corned beef to charcuterie are all made on site, 100% traceability of all produce.
As Kirsty and Angus understand more about the land, animals and how the human body responds to food their methods change. Plants are grown for their medicinal qualities both for human consumption and for their animals, reducing the need for chemicals. They experiment with growing other types of food to make sure their bodies receive the right nutrients.
Waterloo Cottage believes that together local producer/farmers working alongside the wider community can make a difference. Working with school children to eat and cook good local food, educating with farm days and 'adopt a pig' schemes; engaging the future customers. Waterloo Cottage runs pork pie sessions, butchery masterclass mornings, sausage making sessions and open farm days. All are designed to encourage a healthy diet and enjoyment in great tasting food.
